Kenojuak Ashevak (1927 – 2013) is regarded as a Canadian National Treasure and received every award and honour that could be bestowed on a Canadian artist. She lived her entire life in the Arctic community of Cape Dorset on Baff in Island although she frequently travelled internationally as an ambassador of Inuit art. She participated in almost every Cape Dorset annual print collection since its inception in 1959. Her work has been featured on Canadian postage stamps and in most publications that document Inuit art. Her 1960 print the Enchanted Owl is considered an icon of Inuit and Canadian art and numerous other images over her long career continue to be among the most sought after Inuit prints.
